DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS

 

The Department of Pediatrics of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center is a forerunner in providing optimum healthcare for the children in Region IV. Its residency training program, accredited by the Philippine Pediatric Society, is designed to equip residents with the best in Pediatric medical knowledge and healthcare. In addition, its consultant staff and residents are ingrained with a deep sense of social responsibility and a commitment to community service.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE PROGRAM

 

The department is a member of Manila South Pediatric Residency Training Program (MSPREST). It is a three year program with a vision of teaching Pediatric Residents by providing a broad based exposure in the field through an optimal balance between GENERAL PEDIATRICS and pediatric SUBSPECIALTIES (NEONATOLOGY, CRITICAL CARE, GASTROENTEROLOGY, PULMONOLOGY, CARDIOLOGY, NEPHROLOGY, HEMATOLOGY and ONCOLOGY, ENDOCRINOLOGY, ALLERGOLOGY AND NEUROLOGY).

 

Mary Mediatrix Medical Center can boast of its state-of-the-art facilities in the NICU, PICU and the pediatric wards. In adherence to the Philippine Pediatric Society vision, the graduate of the residency training program is prepared to assume any or all of the following professional roles of a pediatrician:

 

  • Pediatric Care Provider
  • Health Educator
  • Researcher / Research Advocate
  • Pediatric Health Care Manager
  • Social Mobilizer

  • ID picture (2 pieces of 1×1 and 2×2)
  • Philippine Medical Association ID card (PMA card)

RESIDENT’S BENEFITS

 

The monthly salaries are competitive with other private training institutions. The residents are entitled to a yearly vacation leave and sponsorship to post graduate conferences, as approved by the department.

 

GRADUATES

 

Our graduates are all passers of the Diplomate Board Exam, given by the Philippine Pediatric Society. The Hospital provides opportunities for the graduates to start their private practice.
